No airport in Tarifa
Tarifa has no airport of its own. Aena, the Spanish airport operator, has only two sites in the province of Cádiz: Jerez Airport (XRY) and Algeciras (AEI), a heliport without scheduled flights. If you are flying, there are therefore four airports to choose from: Málaga, Seville and Jerez in Andalusia, plus Gibraltar. Which one suits you depends mainly on the flights available from your home airport.
Málaga Airport
The airport's official name is Aeropuerto de Málaga-Costa del Sol. For the journey to Tarifa, the key service is the Avanza bus, which links the airport with Algeciras and La Línea de la Concepción. The stop is on Planta 0, the arrivals level, outside the transport hub. In Algeciras you connect at the Estación San Bernardo with the M-150 to Tarifa.
The C1 Cercanías commuter line runs from the airport into Málaga, taking 8 minutes to María Zambrano station, with connections to the AVE high-speed train, and 12 minutes to the centre. The car hire desks are on the lower level of Terminal 2.
Seville and Jerez
Seville Airport is linked to the city by Tussam's EA bus line. It runs towards Seville from 04:30 to 00:05 and towards the airport from 05:22 to 01:00, and you can pay on board by bank card. From Seville, Comes runs four buses a day to Tarifa. Hire cars are in the terminal on Planta 0.
Jerez Airport is the only Aena airport in the province of Cádiz. The M-050 bus line runs daily to Jerez and Cádiz, the M-052 only from the airport and the M-053 only to the airport, both Monday to Friday. The C-1 Cercanías runs daily, taking 9 minutes to Jerez and 57 minutes to Cádiz. In addition, eight Renfe Media Distancia trains a day between Seville and Cádiz stop at the airport. From Cádiz, Comes runs seven buses a day to Tarifa. Here too, the car hire desks are on Planta 0.
Gibraltar
Gibraltar Airport lies right on the border with Spain. On 7 July 2026 the Government of Gibraltar announced that it would be renamed Joshua Hassan Gibraltar International Airport; the airport already uses the new name.

Since 15 July 2026 the agreement between Gibraltar and Spain on the movement of people has been applied provisionally, and checks at the land border have ended. If you land in Gibraltar, you go through Gibraltar and Schengen checks at the airport and must meet the Schengen entry requirements.
For taxis into Spain there is a taxi rank to the right of the border exit on the CA-34/N-351, Avenida Príncipe de Asturias. From Spain you reach it by car via the N-340 or the A-7, taking exit 119 onto the N-351 to La Línea. Within Gibraltar, Citibus lines X5, 5 and 10 operate.
