Bus tickets and luggage

The Comes ticket office at the Apeadero on Calle Batalla del Salado has been closed since 28 September 2026. You can buy tickets online from Comes or pay the driver in cash. Tickets go on sale 15 days before travel, and seat reservations are not available. Each ticket can be changed once free of charge; changes and cancellations are possible up to two hours before departure from the first stop, through the channel where you bought the ticket. Times at intermediate stops are approximate.

You can take one large suitcase of up to 30 kg on the bus. Bikes and surf, kite and windsurf boards travel free of charge, but only in the luggage hold and packed or in a bag; ask the driver beforehand. E-scooters and other personal mobility vehicles have been temporarily banned since a resolution of the Junta (the Andalusian regional government) of 20 December 2023. Pets only travel in a carrier in the luggage hold.

Parking in Tarifa

Since 16 October 2026, Tarifa's traffic bylaw allows streets or sections of streets to be reserved for residents. Signs and road markings show where they are, and checks are made against the vehicle keeper and address in the Spanish vehicle register of the DGT; there is no permit sticker. Parking there is a serious offence and your car may be towed away.

In the blue zone (ORA) you can park for up to two hours. It covers Avenida de Andalucía, the streets De la Constitución and Fuerzas Armadas, Calle Alcalde Juan Núñez y Playa Chica, Calle Sancho IV El Bravo, Puerta del Retiro and Plaza Miramar behind the Castillo de Guzmán el Bueno. You pay Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00, at the ticket machine or by phone; parking there is free on Saturday afternoons and on Sundays and public holidays. Motorbikes, mopeds and bicycles are exempt if parked correctly. The council can change the rules, so always go by the signs on site.

By ferry from Tangier

From Morocco, the ferry from Tanger Ville brings you straight into the port of Tarifa. The crossing takes around 60 minutes and docks at the Estación Marítima. Departures and what happens at the port are covered on the Tarifa - Tangier ferry page.

By plane

Tarifa has no airport of its own. The options are Málaga, Seville, Jerez and Gibraltar. From Málaga Airport, Avanza runs to Algeciras, where the M-150 connects to Tarifa; from Seville, Comes runs four buses a day to Tarifa. All the routes from the airports are on the Airports page.

Where to spend the night in Tarifa is covered under Where to stay, and pitches for tents and motorhomes under Camping. What you will find in the lanes behind the Puerta de Jerez is described in Old town, and the crossing to Morocco in Tarifa - Tangier ferry.
